Tourist Information Centre Is Closing

Haliburton County is closing the Tourist Information Centre along High 35 by the end of this year.

During a committee meeting on January 13th, Tourism Director Amanda Virtanen presented options for the centre, such as relocating the centre, or closing it by the end of April.

The cost of the centre last year was $62,000 to operate.  There were 3,700 walk-ins and nearly a third of the walk-ins were there to use the washroom.

Councillors agreed to close the centre, and the information clerk will work out of the county office on Newcastle Street in Minden.
