The Ward 2 Councillor for Dysart et al has resigned.
During a council meeting on Monday, Former Ward 2 Councillor Derek Knowles told the municipality he would be moving to Ottawa with his wife.
He has filled this seat for two years.
Knowles did get emotional about the Haliburton Junction Skate Park project while making his exit.
He has asked the township to pursue the project because it’s important for the youth in Haliburton County.
Knowles says he wishes he was more involved in the project when it began, two years ago. He gave the municipality a cheque for the new skate park, but is keeping the amount between himself and the municipality.
Reeve Murray Fearrey thanks Knowles for his efforts on council.
Clerk Cheryl Coulson says council will be required to declare the seat vacant at their next meeting. She will be preparing a staff report to outline their options.
