MNRF suggests slow melt should keep spring flooding at bay in Haliburton County

Haliburton County shouldn’t be concerned about spring flooding anytime soon.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says the water levels in Haliburton County are what is generally expected for this time of year.

Officials say with the slight rise in temperatures and cooler nights the snow pack is melting slowly and consistently, which is allowing lakes and rivers to keep up with the flow of water.

OPP officials have warned you should still be extremely cautious when going near any running water during the spring, as levels will still be high and dangerous.
