Police want you to be wary of a few scams circulating in Haliburton County

Police in Muskoka want to make sure you’re not sending money to someone claiming to be a family member.
As part of Fraud Prevention Month, the Haliburton Highlands OPP is working on educating the public on the Grandparent Scam.
Police say the target will get a call from someone who sounds frantic and is claiming to be a grandchild or some other family member.
The caller will say they are stuck in another country and need money in order to get home.
There is also a CRA scam where the target could get a call or e-mail that claims to be from the Canada Revenue Agency.
The target is told they owe money to the CRA or be asked to give personal financial details like banking information or your SIN number.
If you think you’re a victim of fraud you can contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre or Crime Stoppers.
