Haliburton representatives are taking action to better support sexual assault survivors. Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock MPP Laurie Scott tabled a Private Members Bill at Queen’s Park this week, which requires all judges in Ontario to complete sexual assault law training.
Scott says sexual assault is devastating to victims and their families, and this bill will make sure judges have better training. It would require anyone who wants to be a judge to first go through extensive training, and current judges to receive mandatory training.
Scott says she hopes to work with members of all parties to make it a reality.
