Three lake property owner associations want to see a portage passage re-opened.
The Moore and Black Lake Owner’s Associations and the Gull Lake Cottager’s Association are petitioning the federal government to re-open the Moore Falls portage along Highway 35.
In 2015, Parks Canada closed the portage citing safety concerns with deteriorating boat rollers and water flow.
Minden Hills Reeve Brent Devolin says he supports the lake associations in this matter.

The three associations created an online petition to ask Parks Canada to restore the portage and boat rollers.
With the portage being closed, paddlers are forced to cross Highway 35.
