Health Unit warns to look for safety among garage sale bargains

Garage sale signs will start to pop up across Haliburton County soon, but before you jump on the bargains, the Health Unit wants to remind you that not all items are up to code. Especially products that are for young children, they may not meet current safety standards. Buyers should think twice before buying items like baby gates, car seats, bike helmets, or strollers.

Family Health Nurse, Emmy Anastasiou also says people who are selling the items are legally required to make sure they meet current requirements.

Some products are even completely illegal to sell or give away in Canada, says Anastasiou, like baby walkers and infant self-feeding devices.

You can find more about these products and information from the Health Unit by visiting their website.
