Dysart council passes resolution to support solar projects

A blanket resolution recently passed by Dysart council means they’re supporting any applications for ground-mounted solar projects over the next year.

The decision was made when Abundant Solar Energy Inc. asked council to support their applications for over 40 solar projects in the municipality.

The only condition for any of the applications is that they have to meet Ontario Power Authority’s Feed-in-Tariff program requirements. These are very strict and include information about where a solar panel can be placed, that it can’t be visible by any line of sight, and must be covered by natural vegetation.

It’s only an application at this point; once the projects are approved, they have to go through a few more phases including public consultation.
