OPP officers in Haliburton County are getting mental health training.
A new mental health strategy has been launched for police across the province. According to the OPP, some actions include more education and training, collaborative response models and referrals from police to mental health services. OPP Commissioner Vince Hawkes says by supporting the health and wellness of officers, they’ll be in the best position to deliver services to people with mental health issues.
Haliburton Highlands OPP Constable Dianna Dauphinee says some training and programs have already started for local police.
