The Haliburton Pet Owner’s Assistance Fund is off to a good start heading into the holidays. The new charity launched two months ago to help low income pet owners with unexpected vet bills. So far, they’ve helped a dog and a cat receive surgical treatments, and they have made funding commitments for two more dogs. Board member and retired veterinarian, Peter Bennett says they are working with vets in Haliburton, Minden and Coboconk. They’re also planning fundraisers so they can build up their reserves.
