Dysart et al Talks About 2016 Budget

Dysart et al councillors have yet to pass the 2016 budget.

Treasurer Barbara Swannell has suggested a 9.7 percent increase on the tax levy which would impact residential taxes by $240 per $100,000 assessment.

Commercial properties would get more of a hit making the levy $370 per $100,000 assessment, and for industrial the taxes would be $430 per $100,000 assessment.

Swannell noted that the estimated revenue and expenses for the 2016 budget will be just over $13 million.

Councillors are still discussing the budget and say rising costs will make it harder for small municipalities to take on projects.
