There is a winter storm warning in effect for Haliburton County.

Environment Canada says snow and ice pellets will continue into mid-afternoon then change to freezing rain.

Freezing rain will continue into the evening then change into flurries before ending overnight.

Total snow and ice pellet amounts are expected to be between 5 and 15 centimeters.

The mix of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain is the result of a Colorado low pressure system.

Environment Canada advises drivers to postpone their travel until road conditions improve.

They say highways, roads and walkways will be icy, slippery and hazardous.
