Residents in the northern part of Kawartha Lakes have a new location to drop off water samples for testing. Effective this month private well owners can drop off samples on Tuesdays at the Coboconk Municipal Service Centre from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The opening of the new location is in partnership with the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge Health Unit, the City of Kawartha Lakes and the Public Health Ontario Laboratory.  The health unit advises, if you get your water supply from a private source like a well, or draw surface water from a lake, river or stream, you need an appropriate treatment system and should test your drinking water at least three to four times per year.
