The Council of Minden Hills has denied a request from Allsaw Pentecostal Church to allow nine trailers on the church property along Country Road 21.
According to church members, for a number of years the trailers have been stored illegally on the 2-acre rural property, but used for short-term camping periods during summer.
During a council meeting, local residence in the area said the trailers were used far longer than a few days.
Reeve Brent Devolin says his concern is residents approaching council asking for the same thing on their 2-acre property.
Councillor Jeanne Anthon agrees and says she feels uncomfortable accepting the words short-term.
Although councillors didn’t approve the trailers, they did accept the rezoning application, which will be an addition to the building.
