News Hydro Rate Increase Hits Ontarians SHARE ON: Kaitlin Livingston, contributor, Wednesday, May. 11th, 2016 Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock MPP Laurie Scott says energy poverty continues to be a serious issue in her riding. She says the electricity rate for the peak period jumped to 18 cents per kilowatt hour because Ontarians conserved more energy over this past milder winter. Scott says this means monthly bills will increase by 2.5 percent. She says people are doing everything they can to conserve energy, but are still being penalized by the government.
