County Council Requests an Investigation

The Municipality of Haliburton County is asking the Ombudsman to look into the changes to the billing formula for OPP services.

Chief Administrative Officer Mike Rutter says the final draft letter has been sent stating an official complaint.

Reeve Carol Moffatt stated in the letter, residents are being forced to pay more than their fair share of policing costs, and the resulting financial burden is crushing.

The county recognizes there were historical problems with the previous allocation of costs, and changes were necessary.
