Local councilors want to call the new affordable housing complex outside Haliburton village ‘Whispering Pines’. The Haliburton Echo is reporting the Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton Housing Corporation had wanted the name ‘Haliburton Highlands of Hope’, but county councilors chose otherwise.
The county put $190,000 into the $2.9 million project. The corporation had asked residents of the complex to suggest some names and the top three were Whispering Pines, Grass Lake apartments and Edgewater apartments. The complex is located on County Road 21.
