Final step for local turtle project

Haliburton Highlands Land Trust has reached its home stretch on its three-year turtle study.

This comes as an effort to save turtles from road mortality.

In order to do this, the organization has placed signs and an underpass to see if turtles would use it instead of going across the road.

Members of the group say all the data has been collected, but now they are interpreting it.

They say volunteers ranged from the ages of eight to 88.

Officials want to thank everyone who pitched in on this project, and everyone who stopped to help a turtle cross a road.
