A new scam is making its way around the area, and it involves an issue with your credit card.
The Haliburton Highlands OPP says fraudsters are calling hotel guests claiming to be working at the front desk.
Officials say in most cases, the scammer is looking for a confirmation of the credit card number and the three-digit security code on the back of the card.
They say anyone who receives a call like this should not give out any information, and go to the hotel’s front desk to deal with the issue.
The OPP says if it turns out there isn’t a problem with your credit card, tell the hotel manager, and contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
