The judge presiding over the assault case against a long-time Toronto Star columnist says the matter needs to advance.

Although Rosie DiManno did not appear for her fifth Bancroft court hearing yesterday, she has another set to take place at 9:00am on December 13th.

This comes after DiManno was allegedly involved in a fight with another person on Finnegan Lane in Coe Hill in July.

At this point in the case, the crown is asking that the columnist be allowed to enter into a rehabilitation program.

Proof of counselling also still needs to be provided to the court.
