Winter has hit Haliburton County, and our local OPP wants drivers to be prepared this snowy season.
The Haliburton Highlands OPP says proper maintenance of your vehicle will help prevent breakdowns. This includes having your brakes checked, keeping your fluids topped up, and putting snow tires on.
They say to keep a lengthy and safe following distance from other vehicles. This provides extra braking time and helps to avoid collisions.
Police are reminding people snowplows must travel slower than regular traffic to do their jobs. They say passing them can be dangerous, so be patient and remain a safe distance from them.
