We could be seeing an enhancement in our cultural organizations in Haliburton County.
The Municipality of Dysart et al is supporting the new Provincial Culture Strategy. Ontario has set a goal to promote arts and culture in our province. One of the things Ontario is recommending is libraries and arts councils increase their roles to promote and support culture.
Dysart et al Reeve Murray Fearrey says this is hard to do because both of these organizations have low funding.
Council is asking Ontario to consider this in its 2017 budget. They are asking the province to make sure funds are available to municipalities, libraries, and arts councils so they can work towards the strategy.
