Getting high speed internet in Haliburton County is a necessity.  That’s according to Warden Brent Devolin, who says it’s not just about movies, but for healthcare and new technology like automated cars. Devolin says the county will be decades behind if we don’t get high speed access.  Councillor Carol Moffatt says cell towers are what will bring it to the county, but the community has mixed reviews about them. Devolin agrees the downside is the physical towers, but it’s not optional and it’s something that has to be done. This comes as the Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus is asking the federal government for $3.7 billion to upgrade broadband services in rural communities.
