Minden Hills Looks At Ranked Ballot Voting

Minden Hills could have a new voting system for the 2018 municipal election. Council is looking at ranked ballot voting, which means voters can list their choices in order of preference, instead of picking one candidate. However, Clerk Dawn Newhook says there are a lot of steps that has to be taken for the change to happen. She says there will have to be a new by-law, an open house to inform residents, and a public meeting. Newhook says the timeline is tight because the by-law has to be passed by May 2017. She suggests not picking this system for the 2018 elections.
