Health Unit making sure calorie counts are on local restaurant menus

Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health wants to help you make healthier choices at restaurants.

The health unit says it will be supporting and enforcing the province’s Healthy Menu Choices Act.

Public health inspectors will be checking local restaurants with 20 or more locations to make sure they are showing the calories on the food they serve.

The health unit says this will help keep health top of mind, pointing out that one third of Canadian children are overweight.
