Fire officials want you to protect your home while you’re helping protect the planet. Earth Hour runs this Saturday and Fire Prevention Officers in Haliburton are sending out some tips on how to prevent a serious incident in your home.
Officer Douglas Holland says when you light a candle, there is a higher risk of a fire breaking out. He says its important to make sure all of your smoke detectors in the home are working properly. You should also never leave a candle lit in a room that you’re not going to be in and make sure your kids can’t get their hands near open flames.
Earth Hour invites you to turn off all your power for one hour to bring more awareness to environmental issues like Climate Change.
