OPP running a seat-belt blitz over the long weekend

Make sure you’re buckling up when traveling over the Easter long weekend. That’s the message from the Haliburton OPP, who will be running a seat-belt blitz during the weekend.

In 2016, there were 45 deaths on Ontario roads related to not wearing a seat-belt. That’s the lowest number in the last 20 years.

OPP Deputy Commissioner Brad Blair says the odds of surviving a collision are stacked against those who don’t buckle up. He says in just the few seconds it takes, you can cross the risk off of the checklist of things that threaten your life on the road.
