Keep safety in mind while out searching for bargains this spring

Our local health unit is reminding everyone to keep safety in mind when it comes to garage sales. The Haliburton-Kawartha-Pine Ridge District Health Unit says whether you’re planning a sale or hunting for bargains, there are some things to keep in mind.

Any out-of-date items for kids can be dangerous, especially if it doesn’t meet current safety standards, and should be thrown out. That includes car seats, helmets, and playpens.

The health unit says if you sell an item that isn’t up to standard, you could be held responsible if someone is injured because of it.
