Eagle lake fire stresses importance of working smoke detectors

Dysart Et Al’s Fire Chief is convinced working smoke detectors saved a family’s life this weekend.

Mike Isles says they were called to a house fire Saturday morning in Eagle Lake, and the family was able to get out safely.

Isles reminds everyone that smoke alarms need to be replaced every ten years.

Isles adds the homeowner had a fire extinguisher to help control the blaze before firefighters arrive.

Isles says it’s not the law to have a fire extinguisher at home, but they are very useful.

Isles says if you are looking for a fire extinguisher, you should look for one that is A B or C class which would put out most types of fires. He adds that water extinguishers will not help put out electrical fires.
