A local health unit is reminding parents most childhood injuries are predictable and preventable.

The Haliburton Kawartha Lakes Pine Ridge Unit is using Child Safety Week to spread the word on keeping your children safe.

Public Health Nurse Kelly Taylor says thinking of the risks of a baby rolling over could prevent an accident.

Taylor also suggests changing a baby on the floor as opposed to a table.

She reminds us that children are curious and love to explore.

Taylor also recommends putting your children in swimming lessons.

She also mentions that young children love putting things in their mouth, so keep the hazards out of reach.

Kelly adds most childhood injuries can be prevented by being aware of your surroundings.
