Proposed changes to municipal act could see counties and municipalities use investments to offset costs

A proposed amendment to the provincial municipal act would give more say to local politicians for investments.

Currently, municipalities and counties can invest in things like bonds and certain Canadian corporate stocks.

Haliburton County’s Finance Committee was briefed on some of the changes, but Warden Brent Devolin has a few questions.

Devolin added the county currently has no investments but likes the idea of being able to have investments to help offset future costs.
