Haliburton County is willing to spend money to bring in new doctors.

In a county update for Minden council Warden Brent Devolin said six of the 10 full-time physicians are over 50 years old and may retire soon or choose to work part-time.

Devolin says the county is willing to offer a financial incentive to doctors above their salary to work in Haliburton.

He also mentions he expects the county’s bonus to entice doctors to come to the county will increase in future years.

Devolin added that getting full-time physicians is a challenge for all of rural Ontario.
