Therapeutic horse riding farm in Ingoldsby wins $10,000 in not-for-profit contest

The Walkabout Farm Therapeutic Riding Academy in Ingoldsby now has an extra $10,000 to work with.

The horse riding farm got the money through a national contest by Tangerine Bank for not-for profit organizations.

Farm Owner Jennifer Semach says Tangerine chose 20 applicants, including the Walkabout Academy, out of approximately 400.

The 20 organizations were then put to an online vote and the academy won.

Semach says she is looking to buy a farm utility vehicle.

The academy offers therapy by allowing participants to ride with horses and bond with them as well.

Semach adds horses are very helpful in therapy for people with mental and physical challenges.

She also says the farm’s next goal is to purchase a larger location that will allow them to expand.
