A former N.H.L. forward turned municipal councilor is hyped Rogers Hometown Hockey is coming to Haliburton.

Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Walt McKechnie is now a Dysart et al councilor.

Rogers Media announced the weekly program, in its fourth season, would be coming to the county October 14th and 15th.

McKechnie says he is thrilled Haliburton will be getting national attention.

McKechnie says he reached out to Hometown Hockey host Ron McLean during the playoffs to see if there was a chance the show would pass through Haliburton.

McKechnie played in close to 1,000 games in the N.H.L.

More details surrounding the weekend hockey festival will be released as we get closer to the event.
