Special Olympics parade set for Saturday in Haliburton, Kinmount and Minden Hills

Don’t be alarmed if you hear police sirens in Haliburton Village on Saturday.

The Haliburton County Red Wolves Special Olympic Athletes Torch Run is starting at the arena and going down Highland Street with the O.P.P.

After the parade is done in Haliburton, the participants will then drive to Kinmount, and then wrap up the day in Minden Hills.

The athletes will be collecting pocket change to raise funds for its athletic programs, like curling and baseball.

The county is home to 35 registered Special Olympic Athletes between 14 and 71-years-old.

The parade starts at 11:30 a.m.
