Residents in Eastern Ontario making $10,000 less per household

Ratepayers in Eastern Ontario are facing challenges to pay the costs of vital municipal services. This is according to a report from the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus.

Caucus Chair Jean Paul St. Pierre says rural household incomes are an average of ten thousand dollars less a year than the Ontario average.

Haliburton County Warden Dave Burton says they are calling on the provincial government to develop new approaches to help lighten the load.

The Ratepayer Affordability White Paper report contains over a dozen recommendations that need to take place in order to make the region more affordable for residents.
