Province offers grants to engage parents

The province wants to get parents involved in their children’s education.

That’s why the province has announced it will be providing Parents Reaching Out grants to more than 2,000 schools in Ontario this year. The province says getting parents involved can help kids earn higher grades and improve their behaviour and social skills.

Last year, a number of local schools received Parents Reaching Out grants from the province:

– Archie Stouffer Elementary School received $1,000 to host a parent information night on character development and strategies to support student emotional and social well-being

– J Douglas Hodgson and Stuart W Baker elementary schools each received $1,000 to host a presentation with guest speakers on a variety of topics of interest to parents related to student achievement and wellbeing
