Murray Fearrey latest Head of Council in the County to get a title change

There are no more reeves left in Haliburton County.

Dysart et al council became the last municipality in the county to change its head of council from reeve to mayor.

Murray Fearrey says it doesn’t matter to him what his title is because the Ontario Municipal Act only recognizes a head of council, not a reeve or mayor.

With the title change, Andrea Roberts’ title changes from deputy reeve to deputy mayor.

The heads of council for Algonquin Highlands, Highlands East, and Minden Hills all had their titles changed from reeve to mayor earlier this year.

The cost to the municipality would be for new business cards and stationary.
