Almost 3,000 people took part in this years Hike Haliburton Festival

The county’s Hike Haliburton Festival is attracting more people.

The county’s Tourism Committee saw a report saying just under 3,000 people came to the county to enjoy the outdoors.

That represents a nine per cent increase compared to last year.

Councillor Carol Moffatt says more people stayed in paid accommodations, and local businesses enjoyed more traffic as well.

There were 91 hikes at locations throughout the county, and the Tourism Committee is recommending that be increased to 100 next year.

The 2018 Hike Haliburton Festival will be from September 20th to the 23rd pending council’s approval.
