Algonquin Highlands council says goodbye to Keith Thomas

Algonquin Highlands council heard their last fire report from Keith Thomas. After submitting his resignation on May 1, a request for applications was sent out. At the June 19 council meeting, CAO Angie Bird announced a new fire chief has been hired. A name has not been released until he can inform his current employer.

Thomas’ last day will be on June 27, and the new fire chief will start July 7. Thomas let council know he will stay on the job for as long as they need him to make the transition as seamless as possible. Deputy-Reeve Liz Danielson, who chaired the meeting in Reeve Carol Moffat’s absence, thanked Thomas for the work he’s put into the community. Thomas will stay on as the District Chief at the Stanhope Station.
