M.N.R.F fines men combined $10,000 for hunting and natural resource violations

A Warkworth man is facing a total of $5,000 in fines for hunting violations in Northumberland and Highlands East.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s investigation dated back to incidents in 2014. The MNRF says the man had been in possession of an illegally killed deer, before shooting an antlered deer a few days later without attaching a game seal. A month later, he shot two black bears in Cardiff without a licence.

He has now been fined $2,000 for hunting bears without a licence, $1,500 for possessing illegally killed wildlife, and $1,500 for failing to immediately attach a game seal to a deer. He was also handed a one year hunting suspension.

Another Warkworth man was also fined $2,000 for having been there when the black bears were killed, and $3,000 for constructing a trail on Crown land without a permit.

The M.N.R.F. is reminding you to report any natural resource violations to 1-877-847-7667.
