Minden Hills expects new fire hall to be ready by late March

A collapse of the roof at the new fire hall in Minden Hills will not cause any delays in construction.

Acting Fire Chief Mike Bekking gave the update at today’s council meeting.

The roof trusses collapsed last month causing two workers to fall, and both men were injured.

Bekking says the first concern is the recovery of the injured construction workers.

At the time of the collapse, Mayor Brent Devolin says the Ministry of Labour investigated the site and construction was allowed to resume within a few days.

Bekking adds the new fire hall is schedule to be opened in late March if there are no further delays.

The new fire hall will be along Highway 35.

The total cost of the project is approximately $1.9 million.
