Downtown Haliburton B.I.A. contest keeps businesses busy

The winter weather is not hurting businesses in downtown Haliburton.

That’s according to Haliburton Business Improvement Association Administrator Cindy Campbell.

The B.I.A. held a contest to encourage people to shop at business in the downtown core, and Campbell says the amount of ballots filled out were in the thousands.

The contest ran from the end of November until December 22nd and Campbell says based on the ballots filled out, people came from all over.

Campbell says the approximately 120 businesses in the B.I.A. are reporting a good fall and winter season in terms of sales.

Margaret Turney of Eagle Lake was the winner of a vacation to Mexico when her ballot was drawn from the Foodland grocery store on Highland Street.
