The extreme is past us but the O.P.P. still wants drivers and children to be safe.

The Haliburton Highlands detachment says the extra snow that fell the last couple of days can make for difficult driving conditions.

Community Safety Officer Dianna Dauphinee says one suggestion she has is if you have to go somewhere, leave earlier than you normally would.

Dauphinee also reminds drivers that children enjoy playing on snowbanks.

She says that creates challenging conditions for kids and motorists.

Dauphinee also strongly recommends checking road conditions before you get in your vehicle.
