Being a paramedic in Haliburton County can be challenging

Haliburton County paramedics can encounter challenging situations you won’t see in urban areas.

In an update to the county’s Emergency Services Committee, Chief of Paramedic Services Tim Waite talked about a challenging situation in Minden Hills on November 4th.

Waite says emergency services got a call that someone was injured in a remote area while riding their A.T.V.

He says just getting to the patient was a challenge.

Waite adds that with the bumpy terrain, transporting the patient by A.T.V. was not safe.

He says the medics knew exactly what to do.

Waite adds the medical helicopter was able to land in a swampy area.

Waite says the patient was eventually air-lifted to Toronto and praised his team for a job well done.
