Snowmobiling is a passion in Haliburton County but it can also be dangerous.

The Haliburton Highlands O.P.P. says something as simple as wearing a helmet could save your life if you fall.

Community Safety Officer Dianna Dauphinee says sledders need to be even more cautious at night.

Dauphinee also suggests avoiding riding of frozen lakes or rivers but has some suggestions if you have to.

She adds that you should also tell someone when you expect to be back from your ride, and that impaired snowmobiling carries the same penalties as impaired driving.
