Bone densitometry service now available at H.H.H.S.

Haliburton Highlands Health Services is introducing a new service this week.

Thanks to the fundraising efforts of the H.H.H.S. Foundation, health services purchased bone densitometry equipment for the hospital in Minden Hills.

Foundation Executive Director Lisa Tompkins says the new service would not be possible without the generousity of its donors.

The bone densitometry equipment is helpful for determining the onset of osteoporosis as well as seeing how susceptible a patient is to fractures.

Tompkins adds the foundation continues its fundraising efforts for healthcare in the county, and talks about some of the goals for 2018.

H.H.H.S. President and C.E.O. Carolyn Plummer says she is glad the organization can offer one more service that residents don’t have to leave town for.

The service is available through a physician’s referral starting today.
