Health unit encouraging Haliburton residents to vote on Ontario budget ideas

Our local health unit is encouraging the community to provide input on the 2018 provincial budget. The Ontario government has an online voting system, where you can pick your top three initiatives that you think should be included in the budget.

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit says there are a number of different wellness initiatives that could be funded, including food education programs for kindergarten and elementary school students and a research study to reduce food waste from retailers. The province has up to $5 million to fund the five most popular ideas.

Health Equity Coordinator with the HKPR District Health Unit,  Sarah Tsang, says this is your chance to make your voice heard and shape the future of Ontario. Almost 3,000 people have voted so far, and the deadline to add your input is this Friday.

Go to the Budget Talks website to vote for your favourite ideas.
