Dysart Reeve Murray Fearrey presented Matt Duchene with a key to the village of Haliburton on July 6 – the first ever Matt Duchene Day. Hundreds of people crowded Head Lake Park to see Matt and his gold medal.

Fearrey thanked Matt for the inspiration he’s provided to people in his hometown. Local MP Barry Devolin expressed the town’s feelings toward Matt, saying they lived and died with him right through to the end of the Olympics.
