Two county bridges to be repaired this year

Two bridges in Haliburton County will be under construction this year.

County Director of Public Works, Craig Douglas, gave his report to the county’s roads committee last week.

The West Guilford Bridge will have its expansion joints replaced with the total cost being approximately $100,000.

The original plan was to start the repairs in September but that was put on hold until this year because of a delay in receiving the materials.

The Horseshoe Lake Bridge is also scheduled to undergo repairs in 2018 with the work expected to be complete by the end of the year.

According to an engineering assessment done of the bridge, the approximately 100-year-old structure is nearing the end of its life expectancy.

The price tag of repairs is around $70,000.

Both projects are part of the 2018 county budget.
